This poster was based on the famous ‘Chat Noir’ French print designed by Nouveau artist Théophile Alexandre Steinlen created in 1896. Mark loved French culture and his two Egyptian cats and it just made sense to riff this classic design for him. When I was working on this and showed him the concept of him in all black with his cats and he loved it exclaiming that even his glasses were ‘French as fuck!’.
